Saint-Petersburg. June 26. INTERFAX - NORTH-WEST - JSC "PO "Sevmash" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) has laid a manned underwater vehicle (OPA) of project 03660 "Jason" for work on offshore gas pipelines, the press service of the engineering enterprise reports.
"Over the past few decades, Sevmash has handed over to customers a lot of head projects, ranging from nuclear submarines of the fourth generation, ending with the Prirazlomnaya MLSP, mega-yachts and the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier. All projects were successfully completed. I am sure that we will also fulfill this order on time and with proper quality," the words of Sevmash CEO Mikhail Budnichenko are quoted in the message.
Georgy Fokin, General Director of Gazprom Transgaz St. Petersburg, LLC, noted that the project will become serial, Gazprom's needs have already been determined.
The manned underwater vehicle is designed to perform work related to the operation of offshore gas pipelines. The project is aimed at improving the reliability and safety of the gas transportation process. The OPA is being created by order of Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg as part of the energy company's innovative development strategy.
The OPA of project 03660 can be operated in fresh and sea water in unlimited navigation areas. The autonomy of the device is designed for the work of a crew of two people at diving depths up to 2,250 thousand meters.
Earlier it was reported that the OPA will be equipped with a transparent acrylic solid spherical body and equipped with submersible equipment, a set of attachments, hydraulic manipulators.
