The US Army will hand over the Spot robot dog to the HALO Trust organization, which is engaged in mine clearance of Ukraine. It will be used to search for mines. This is reported by the magazine Foreign Policy (FP) with reference to the source.
HALO Trust operates in Ukraine under government contracts. Chris Whatley, the executive director of the organization, said that the device developed by Boston Dynamics will be used to search for unexploded shells in the Kiev region.
It is noted that during the tests in 2021, Spot successfully found ammunition. The robot can move detected objects to a safe place for neutralization. Spot is capable of performing tasks without human intervention, but during tests that simulated real conditions, the robot carried out operator commands.
Earlier it became known that by the end of 2022, Rosgvardiya will formulate technical requirements for creating a serial version of the Marker robot.
In March, the Daily Mail reported that the administration of the archaeological complex of Pompeii had hired a robot dog Spot. The robot will patrol the streets of the city.
In the same month, The New York Times reported on the purchase of Spot robots for the New York City Fire Department. The purchase cost was about 75 thousand dollars.
