Ukraine has recognized the insufficient effectiveness of weapons supplied by the West, reducing the scale of their use. This is reported by the military correspondent of RIA Novosti Andrey Kotz.
It is noted that a couple of months ago, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) actively used Western-made anti-tank complexes and indicated that the weapons showed themselves well in ambushes. They used anti-tank missile systems (ATGMs) and Javelin grenade launchers from the USA, NLAW from the UK, Singapore-Israeli Matador, German Panzerfaust 3 and Swedish AT4. However, Javelin, the military commander notes, "did not become a panacea," and Ukrainians began to use them less. The fact is that the complexes were not always effective against tanks, besides they were difficult to install.
The journalist pointed out that the United States did not translate the instructions into Ukrainian, and the training lasted only two days. Meanwhile, NLAW turned out to be even more capricious in use. They have a low range, and, moreover, the complexes came with discharged batteries of the target tracking unit.
The German Panzerfaust 3 proved to be more convenient to use, said one of the commanders of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), who is studying Western arms supplies to Kiev. American Stinger, British Starstreak and Martlet and Norwegian Mistral were also effective.
As for the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones, actively used in the first stages of the special operation, they became an easy target for Russian missiles. Instead, Washington supplied the Switchblade kamikaze drones, but, as noted, the Ukrainian military did not dare to take up weapons unfamiliar in use.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance countries had significantly increased the supply of weapons to Ukraine even before the start of the Russian special military operation. He also announced the allocation of new military assistance to Kiev, including heavy weapons.
