Artillery shells "Krasnopol" showed high efficiency during the special operation in the Donbass. This statement was made by Rostec on June 16.
"The fighting has confirmed the high efficiency of the Krasnopol artillery shells. The guided munition is equipped with a semi—active laser guidance system and allows you to hit both stationary and moving targets with high accuracy," the corporation said.
The Krasnopol complex was developed by specialists of the Academician Shipunov Instrument Engineering Design Bureau. In addition to the high-explosive guided projectile, the high-precision corrected artillery complex is also equipped with a laser target designator-rangefinder. The latter helps to direct the complex to the target.
The caliber of the projectile is 152 mm. This ammunition can be used by all types of artillery systems, including self-propelled howitzers "Msta-S", "Msta-SM" and "Coalition-SV". The range of the projectile can reach 20 km, and the mass of its warhead is 8 kg. The Krasnopol designator can simultaneously capture up to three targets.
New types of weapons are successfully used during a special operation to protect Donbass. So, on June 8, Rostec told about the successful use of new Russian kamikaze drones "Cube" and "Lancet". According to the corporation, both complexes are distinguished by high flight range, speed and accuracy.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in the Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
