In the 90s, a sample of the BTR-T heavy armored personnel carrier was made in Omsk on the basis of the T-55 medium tank.
Instead of a turret with a 100 mm gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun, a low-profile manned combat module with a 2A42 automatic cannon and a 9M113 "Competition" anti-tank missile system was installed.
The crew of this armored personnel carrier consisted of two military personnel (a driver, a commander, aka an armament operator), five motorized infantry were placed in the landing compartment.
The protection was reinforced with built-in "reactive armor", which made it possible to resist reactive anti-tank grenades. Taking into account the mine danger, measures were taken to increase the protection of the bottom.
Smoke grenade launchers of the 902B "Cloud" system made it possible to hide behind smoke screens if necessary.

The 620-horsepower engine allows you to reach speeds of more than 50 km /h. The fuel reserve is 500 km. Combat weight - 38,000 kg.
Of course, this armored personnel carrier will not seem too modern to someone, but according to one of the most important characteristics - security - it significantly exceeds the existing BMP, BMD and armored personnel carriers in service.
