MBDA Deutschland GmbH is expanding its range of guided missiles for fire support of ground forces and special forces.
Guided missile for combined artillery fire support
By creating a missile for Joint Fire Support Missile (JFS-M), MBDA is promoting a development that not only meets the requirements of the ground forces for modern long-range weapons, but also consistently supports the idea of a unified armed forces.
Using JFS-M in conjunction with artillery systems, the armed forces will be able to achieve accurate destruction at a distance of up to 499 km. The new artillery guided missile system JFS-M on the MARS launcher manufactured by Krauss Maffei Wegmann (KMW) was developed as a variant of the Bundeswehr "Indirect Fire System of the Future" ("Zukünftige System Indirektes Feuer großer Reichweite").

JFS-M is designed in accordance with the requirements. It can be used in conditions of active and passive electronic combat for defeating, conducting reconnaissance, as well as as a training option. The guided missile uses the latest technologies of trouble-free GPS navigation, three-dimensional flight planning, as well as navigation sensors with image support. Artificial intelligence is used for automatic recognition, identification and tracking of the target.
According to the manufacturer, both the MARS II rocket artillery system, which is in service with the Bundeswehr, and other tracked or wheeled vehicles, for example, the Boxer armored personnel carrier or a truck with a protected cabin, are suitable as load-bearing platforms. The standard Rocket Pod container holds up to two JFS-M rockets. Since MARS carries two such containers, a mixed armament of the system is possible as a combat load: two JFS-M missiles and, for example, six GMLRS-type guided missiles.
At the next stage, the Bundeswehr will need an order for the introduction of a new type of active weapons for artillery. The operational potential of JFS-M will become real in a few years after the conclusion of the contract with the manufacturer.
ENFORCER for infantry and special forces
At the end of 2019, the German Armed Forces commissioned MBDA Germany to manufacture and supply the ENFORCER guided missile systems. These systems of the "shot-forgot" class received the name "Light weapon 1800+" (Leichtes Wirkmittel 1800+) in the Bundeswehr. They are designed to be used from the shoulder and are capable of accurately hitting stationary and moving targets at a range of up to 2000 m. The missile can also be used against lightly armored vehicles and targets in shelters.

MBDA is reportedly currently working on the ENFORCER family concept. The modular system architecture of the rocket makes it possible to adapt it at low cost for use in various environments: on land, at sea and in the air. Thus, the concept of a family of guided missiles may be implemented in the future. For example, it will be possible to replace a multi-purpose warhead with an armor-piercing one.
