The White House is in favor of allocating $4.3 billion from the budget for the purchase of enriched uranium from American manufacturers. The presidential administration is trying to convince lawmakers to make such a decision.

They told about a meeting with legislators of representatives of the US Department of Energy, who want to achieve the allocation of budget funds. This money is planned to be invested in the development of American enterprises engaged in the enrichment of uranium raw materials.
The agency notes that recently Russian enriched uranium has been supplied irregularly, which can lead to interruptions in the work of American enterprises using it in their nuclear reactors. Representatives of the US government expect to reduce dependence on uranium from the Russian Federation by increasing their own production.

The American media notes that it will not be easy to cope with this task, because in America there is only one enterprise where uranium raw materials are enriched. It is located in New Mexico and belongs to the European consortium URENCO, which is a joint British-Dutch-German company.
