The only Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov is an aging smoking relic. So the ship was named in the publication of the American edition 19FortyFive.
It is noted that aircraft carriers in the USSR had fewer requirements than in the United States. As a result, the Soviet ship turned out to be suitable only for supporting the submarine and surface fleets defending the shores of the country, while the American ship was suitable for projecting forces far beyond the borders of the United States.
The publication reminds that "Admiral Kuznetsov" was launched in 1985 in the Ukrainian SSR. It is noted that a Soviet-Russian non-nuclear aircraft carrier can stay in the open sea for up to 45 days, which is much less than the same indicator for any nuclear-powered American aircraft carrier.
In May, Alexey Rakhmanov, General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), announced that Admiral Kuznetsov had successfully docked at the 35th shipyard in Severomorsk.
In August 2021, RIA Novosti, citing a source close to the military-industrial complex, reported that the repair of the Admiral Kuznetsov was postponed by one year.
