The test launch of the newest hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon" completed a cycle of state tests of the product from a surface carrier. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.
He revealed that the final launch was carried out in order to confirm the maximum range of the rocket. On May 28, the Admiral Gorshkov frigate from the Barents Sea successfully hit a target with a Zircon at a distance of one thousand kilometers in the White Sea.
Earlier it became known that Russia has begun the creation of a new coastal missile system (DBK) for the hypersonic cruise missile "Zircon". The new complex will have the ability to hit not only surface targets, but also ground targets.
In February, the Izvestia newspaper, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense, reported that by the end of 2022, the Northern Fleet will receive a frigate that will become the first full-time carrier of Zircons.
