According to The Washington Times, such a statement was made by Lieutenant General of the US Air Force James Dawkins Jr. during a meeting of the Subcommittee on Armed Forces of the House of Representatives of the US Congress.
This high-ranking officer, who holds the position of Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Planning, notes the strengthening of the military power of Russia, China and North Korea, including their nuclear capabilities. Against this background, the general of the US Armed Forces notes, Americans urgently need to think about the need to increase their defense capability in order to protect their country and allied states. Therefore, the priority task of the Pentagon, in his opinion, is the urgent replacement and modernization of weapons, primarily nuclear warheads.
At the moment, the general says, missiles, bombers and submarines continue to be operated in the US Armed Forces, which have long since been written off due to the expiration of the service life.
