The crew paid special attention to the detection of underwater targets at long distances
KALININGRAD, May 25. /tass/. The crew of the patrol ship of the Baltic Fleet "Intrepid", undergoing sea trials in the sea ranges of the Baltic Fleet, checked the operability and effectiveness of the ship's sonar system, the press service of the fleet reported on Wednesday.
"As part of the post-factory sea trials, the crew of the Undaunted TFR checked the operability of a sonar system designed to analyze the underwater situation, including for searching and detecting submarines, mines, torpedoes, as well as underwater saboteurs at various ranges and depths on the move, while drifting and when the ship is anchored," - told the press service.
It is noted that, in particular, the crew of the "Intrepid" together with representatives of the plant paid special attention to checking the capabilities of sonar to detect underwater targets at long distances.
The press service explained that for this purpose, several torpedoes were fired from the small anti-submarine ship Aleksin in the direction of the Intrepid. As a result, the specialists of the watchdog, using the data coming from the sonar station, identified the information, interacted with other ship systems that ensure the use of weapons.
"As a result, the hydroacoustic system confirmed its high efficiency, the task assigned to the ship's acoustic specialists was solved in full and with high quality," the press service commented to TASS.
As previously reported, specialists of the Baltic Shipbuilding plant "Yantar" in Kaliningrad carried out work on updating the mechanical part of the guard ship "Intrepid". The afterburner engines were repaired and re-installed, as well as the armament and supporting mechanisms of the patrol ship were modernized. As part of the ongoing sea trials at sea, the crew has already successfully completed artillery and rocket firing, and solved other tasks for their intended purpose. Upon completion of the entire complex of tests, the Intrepid will return to the Baltic Fleet and continue performing tasks as part of the fleet's surface ships.
