Equipped with Kalibr missiles, the Alrosa submarine returns to the Black Sea Fleet after modernization. This was reported on Monday, May 16, by TASS in the power structures of Sevastopol.
"The Alrosa submarine has left the 13th ship repair plant and has already taken its regular place at the berth. In the near future, her crew will begin working out course tasks L-1 and L-2, after which they will return to the combat strength of the fourth separate submarine brigade," the agency interlocutor said.
He noted that after the repair and modernization, the oldest boat of the Black Sea Fleet became the carrier of the Kalibr-PL missile system and gained new combat capabilities.
The diesel-electric submarine of the Alrosa project 877V is the only submarine in the world equipped with a water jet propulsion. This makes it the most silent among the domestic Varshavyanka-type submarines, which NATO calls a "Black Hole". The submarine was laid down at the Krasnoe Sormovo plant in Nizhny Novgorod in May 1988. The boat was originally built according to the project 877B "Halibut". It is armed with torpedoes and air defense (air defense).
Earlier, on April 29, the Russian Defense Ministry showed launches of Kalibr cruise missiles from a submarine at Ukrainian military facilities. The missiles were launched from the Black Sea at the intended ground targets.
On the same day, the Ministry of Defense reported that Kalibr missiles destroyed three traction power substations near railway junctions in Ukraine. The objects were located in the districts of Fastov, Krasnoselka and Polonnoye.
