The Ministry of Defense told about the difficult work of repair units, which are also actively involved in the military special operation in Ukraine. They carry out continuous and uninterrupted work on the restoration and repair of military equipment. To do this, the Russian military deployed points in the field.
"Special attention is paid to the maintenance and repair of equipment of troops operating at a considerable distance from temporary deployment and deployment points," the military department said.
It is noted that at the same time, all the principles of disguise are necessarily observed. Military personnel can carry out restoration work of any complexity. This is achieved due to the availability of modern maintenance and repair machines, as well as the high qualification of military personnel of repair units.
"In order to maintain the high combat capability of the units, first of all, weapons that are necessary for combat missions are repaired, as well as weapons that can be repaired in the shortest possible time. At the same time, Russian servicemen perform their tasks in several shifts, which allows them to work around the clock," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"This is, of course, both fast and scary, but we have to do it. Hands do it themselves. I've already got used to it," said Pavel, the hitch-rigger.
If minor repairs can no longer be done on the spot, an emergency evacuation is needed. "My job is to evacuate equipment from the battlefield. The most important thing is to do everything carefully and quickly. It's risky and dangerous. But the car is armored. We arrive on the battlefield, take the damaged equipment to the recovery point and go back for other equipment. There were different cases. They were pulled right out of the battlefield under fire, where everything arrived. They worked well, well," Sergei, the deputy commander of the repair platoon, told reporters.
This army tow truck is based on the T-72 tank. In any weather, it can tow a combat vehicle weighing up to 50 tons off-road. There is a powerful winch, a crane and even a bulldozer ploughshare to clear the rubble. And if necessary, the "Bramka", as it is called in the repair battalions, can swim across the river under water.
The out-of-order military equipment is transported to the assembly point of damaged vehicles. A real service station (maintenance service) in the open air. It has all the necessary equipment for quick repairs.
"The battalion is intended for the organization and restoration of weapons and military equipment (armored, automotive and rocket-artillery weapons) in the field, directly evacuated from the combat formations of units, as well as from the areas of equipment transfer, routes of units, evacuation routes. Depending on the nature of the malfunction, either a repair and evacuation group or an evacuation group is put forward to the equipment. Restoration of equipment is organized, if possible, directly at the place of failure. If it is impossible to restore it on the spot, the object is evacuated to the assembly point of damaged vehicles, where it is already directly restored by the repair unit," said Alexander, chief of staff of the repair and restoration battalion.
In order not to waste precious time, military equipment is repaired here in the so-called aggregate way. For example, if there are any serious malfunctions in the engine, it is easier to replace it immediately with a new one. Here he is ready. And the old one will go to the factory for repairs.
The main task is to restore and return the equipment to combat formations as quickly as possible. Hence the well-structured logistics.
"The basic principle of repair on finished units. If the equipment arrived with a faulty engine, we will not deal with the nature of its malfunction - the engine will be replaced with a new one. The delivery of spare parts is organized, according to the need, spare parts are delivered in a timely manner, we do not have a shortage of spare parts. Depending on the type of damage, a decision is made for further recovery. If this malfunction cannot be eliminated by the forces of the repair and restoration battalion, this object of weapons and military equipment is transferred to the manufacturer for further decision-making on the expediency of its restoration," explained Alexander, chief of staff of the repair and restoration battalion.
But military equipment with serious armor damage, as a rule, is not restored. She is going to be written off, as she can no longer provide proper safety to the crew.
