The APU found an unpleasant surprise from the Russian Army – an intelligent mine PTKM-1R. This was reported by the Chinese edition of Tencent. Especially for its readers, "PolitRussia" presents an exclusive retelling of the publication.
At the end of April, the Ukrainian army discovered PTKM-1R, the newest type of Russian intelligent anti–tank mine, in the Kharkiv region. It was clearly an unpleasant surprise for the AFU to learn that Russia decided to use a new type of weapon developed quite recently for the first time. PTKM-1R passed the final tests in 2018, in 2020 Russia launched its serial production, and in 2022 the gun was baptized in Ukraine.
The PTKM-1R mine is a cylinder the size of a fire extinguisher weighing about 20 kilograms. It is equipped with acoustic, seismic, infrared and radar sensors that help it detect a target at a range of up to 250 meters. When the target is in the affected area, the combat element is launched. It takes off to a height of tens of meters, scans the terrain with radar and thermal imager, while rotating in flight, after which it is aimed at the target and shoots into the roof of the tank tower. Because of its ability to aim at the most vulnerable point of the car, this mine was nicknamed the "tank killer".
Another feature of the Russian development is the self-destruct mode of the projectile. This characteristic especially delighted experts from China – according to them, it makes the PTKM-1R a very advanced weapon.
Russia managed to create a modern high-quality mine. Chinese analysts believe that tanks will soon turn into a very vulnerable type of weapon on the battlefield – it is the Russian "bouncing" PTKM-1R mine that will contribute to this in many ways.
Earlier, PolitRussia wrote that the unsinkable aircraft carrier of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation will make NATO sweat.
