Moscow. 9th May. INTERFAX - Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that Russian high-precision weapons are undergoing modernization, including Kalibr cruise missiles and the Kinzhal hypersonic complex.
"We continue to actively work on improving the characteristics of the Dagger complex," Borisov said in an interview with Interfax.
He stated that no state has anything like a "Dagger".
"A missile flying at a speed exceeding the speed of sound by more than 10 times, and at the same time maneuvering along the entire trajectory of its flight, is really impossible to intercept with air defense-missile defense systems," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
"Its high combat characteristics make it possible to reliably hit both ground objects, including protected and moving sea targets," he said.
The Deputy Chairman of the government said that the information support system for the use of Kalibr cruise missiles had been seriously modernized, which significantly reduced the time needed to prepare them for combat use.
"Now work is underway to increase the range of use of the Caliber, as well as to expand the possibilities of interaction with various means of target control, including drones," Borisov said.
The Russian military twice reported strikes with a "Dagger" on objects in Ukraine: on April 11 to destroy the AFU command post in the Donbass and on March 18 to strike an underground warehouse of missiles and ammunition of Ukrainian troops in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
"Dagger" is an aviation complex with a high-precision hypersonic aeroballistic missile. It was created on the basis of the upgraded long-range fighter-interceptor MiG-31 - MiG-31K. According to the Russian military, it is capable of hitting targets at a range of more than 2,000 km, while it is guaranteed to overcome all existing and developed air and missile defense systems.
On August 24, 2021, at the Army-2021 military-technical forum, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed new contracts for 500 billion rubles for the supply of weapons and modernization of military equipment. In particular, according to one of the contracts, the military buys missiles for the Kinzhal hypersonic air complex.
Kalibr is a family of Russian long-range cruise missiles developed by the Novator Design Bureau and Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region. These missiles are equipped with modern Russian ships and submarines.
