Izvestia correspondent Ivan Litomin showed on May 6 how the Russian military uses a captured tank of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) during a special operation to protect Donbass.
Russian troops continue to move AFU units away from Snigirevka to protect the city from artillery shelling by Ukrainian militants. The offensive is developing so successfully that Ukrainian radicals have to abandon their own trenches and equipment.
One of the trophies that the Russian military got was a Ukrainian tank. The militants abandoned it so hastily that they left a full ammunition package in it. Now this tank is in service with the Russian Armed Forces and helps our fighters to repel enemy attacks.
On May 2, Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Zimenkin showed the equipment of the Armed Forces burned in Rubezhnoye. Together with the infantry fighting vehicle, several Ukrainian fighters were destroyed.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in Ukraine and in the Donbas, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
