The Ministry of Defense has published footage of the combat work of the calculations of self-propelled artillery installations "Malka" in the conduct of counter-battery warfare during a special military operation.
It is reported that the adjustment of the combat work of artillery calculations is carried out during the day and at night using unmanned aerial vehicles.
In this case, the calculations of self-propelled artillery installations 2S7M "Malka" using unmanned spotters struck the positions of the gunners of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result, the positions of 203-mm self-propelled guns 2S7 "Peony" and batteries of 122-mm howitzer D-30 were destroyed.
It is worth noting that our "Malka" is a modernized version of the "Peony". The 2S7 large-caliber self-propelled gun was developed for artillery units of the reserve of the Supreme High Command. The basic "Peony" was adopted in 1976 and showed very high performance during the exercises.
However, some shortcomings were also revealed. It was decided to carry out a deep modernization, as a result of which the self-propelled gun 2S7M "Malka" appeared. The new large-caliber cannon began to arrive in the troops in the late 1980s.
Self-propelled guns of 203 mm caliber are designed to destroy particularly important objects, in particular, well-fortified structures and airfield strips. In the arsenal of "Malki", in addition to high-explosive shells, there are also concrete-piercing shells. The base of the self-propelled gun was the chassis of the T-80 tank. It has been significantly modified taking into account the installation of powerful artillery weapons. The gas turbine engine was replaced with a diesel engine. On the "Malka" there is a multi-fuel V-84B with a capacity of 840 hp. It provides a car weighing 46.5 tons with a maximum speed of 50 km / h.
Numerous sensors connected to data processing devices are installed as part of the power plant, transmission, chassis, armament and other systems. Constant monitoring of the operation and condition of all major systems is provided with the issuance of information to the remote control in the cabin. This greatly facilitates the search for breakdowns and improves the quality of maintenance of equipment.
The crew of the ACS 2S7M consists of six people. The driver, the commander and one of the gunners when moving are located in the front cabin, access to which is provided by hatches in the roof. The compartment for the other three calculation numbers is located behind the engine and transmission compartment. All inhabited volumes are protected from weapons of mass destruction.
For individual air defense in the arsenal of each self-propelled gun there is a 12.7-mm machine gun NSVT and a portable anti-aircraft missile system "Igla".
The carried ammunition is 8 shells. The rate of fire is 2.5 rounds per minute. The maximum firing range is 47.5 km.
The 2S7M "Malka" self-propelled gun is brought from the field to the combat position in just seven minutes, and it turns off and leaves the position even faster - in five minutes. This is important in the case of counter-battery fighting.
The only drawback of the Malka, which is noted by all experts, including foreign ones, is the open installation of the gun, which does not allow protecting the crew from shell fragments or enemy fire when working in position.
It was originally planned to use unmanned aerial vehicles to search for targets and adjust the fire. Which was done in the case made public by the Ministry of Defense.
As the senior gunner of the self-propelled gun "Malka" said: "We are being corrected with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles. We make a shot. We hit the target. The result of the work always depends on the coherence of the calculation, and we have a good one."
