According to the German newspaper Welt, the German government still decided to provide military assistance to Ukraine in the form of the supply of self-propelled howitzers Panzerhaubitze 2000, which are in service with the German army. The dispatch of artillery installations will be carried out despite the objections of the Bundeswehr leadership, where they believe that the Kiev military will not be able to quickly master a complex digital fire control system. In addition, according to the German army command, such military assistance will weaken the defense capability of Germany itself.
Panzerhaubitze 2000 belong to the class of heavy self-propelled artillery installations that can hit targets at a distance of up to 40 kilometers. In total, the Bundeswehr is armed with 119 self-propelled guns, of which only 40 units are in good condition. Earlier, Germany has repeatedly stated that military assistance to Ukraine should not harm the country's obligations to NATO and its own defense capability. However, contrary to the opinion of the country's military leadership, the government of Olaf Scholz sends Kiev seven Panzerhaubitze 2000.
Training of Ukrainian operators in the management of modern artillery installations is planned to be carried out on the territory of Germany.
Earlier, Berlin approved the export of 50 anti-aircraft self-propelled guns "Cheetah" to Ukraine. At the same time, despite numerous requests from President Zelensky, the federal government has not yet planned to send modern Leopard tanks to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Until recently, Germany refused to provide Kiev with heavy weapons, fearing the weakening of the Bundeswehr. But, apparently, the pressure of the United States and more aggressive neighbors in the European bloc broke the resistance of Olaf Scholz.
By pumping Zelensky's regime with weapons, the Western allies are increasingly showing that they are absolutely not interested in a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Moreover, the same arms supplies from Germany are conducted in secret, and the real volumes of military aid are not available even for Bundestag deputies.
Against this background, a petition is gaining votes in Germany, where the Germans are calling for the expulsion from the country, as they write, of the ungrateful Ambassador of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk. Recall that Melnik, due to the unwillingness of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to arrive in Kiev, compared it to a sausage product.
