According to the general director of the enterprise Alexey Rakhmanov, localization of production of products for the state defense order is already close to 100%

KALININGRAD, April 27. /tass/. Suppliers of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will find a solution to replace the remaining imported components for military shipbuilding within a period of three to 16 months. This was announced to journalists on Wednesday by the general director of the company Alexey Rakhmanov during a working trip to Kaliningrad.

According to him, the localization of the production of products for the state defense order is currently close to 100%, and according to his key ship competencies, the share of import substitution is already 97-99%.

"We have an understandable action plan on the part of our suppliers, who over the next three to 16 months will be able to find a solution to replace those missing elements that will allow us to consider the products 100% manufactured in the Russian Federation," Rakhmanov said.

About the purchase of parts for civil vessels

The head of the enterprise also said that the company will be able to purchase imported components for civilian vessels in alternative markets to the West or produce them in Russia.

"We understand that in the end we can produce fishing, dry cargo, special, cargo, recreational vessels only when we can find a replacement [of components] in the short term from alternative markets, and in the medium term, that is, no later than 2024, produced in the Russian Federation. There are already such examples," Rakhmanov said.

The head of the USC noted that, unlike the state defense order, localization of production in Russia of civil shipbuilding is much more difficult because of customers who in most cases want to supply imported components.

"This is exclusively the subject of negotiations between the customer and us in order to say that we are confident if the complete set will be produced in the volume in which we are talking, in Russia. If so, then a ship or vessel will be guaranteed to be built, if not, are you ready to take risks, gentlemen customers? If we are not ready, then let's go back to the drawing table in order to replace those elements that are now impossible to bring from abroad, or those analogues that will be technologically linked for those steamships and those properties that our customer expects," Rakhmanov summed up.

About the construction of frigates for India

Rakhmanov also said that there will be no significant delays in the construction of frigates of Project 11356, which are being built for the Indian Navy in Kaliningrad and at the shipyard in Indian Goa. According to him, the possible delay in the deadline will not exceed six months.

"If any delays accumulate, they will be insignificant and will be significantly less than six months," Rakhmanov said, answering a question about the progress of construction.

He added that now the frigates are being built according to the "2 + 2" scheme - two ships are being built in India and two in Kaliningrad. "The work is on schedule. There are delays of both subjective and objective nature," Rakhmanov said.

The initial plans assumed the construction of six frigates of Project 11356 for the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet) of Russia. However, these plans had to be adjusted after Ukraine refused to supply power plants. As a result, the Black Sea Fleet received three frigates of this project, three hulls were launched.

In 2018, a contract was signed according to which the Baltic Shipbuilding Plant "Yantar" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) will complete two hulls for the Indian Navy, two more with Russian participation will be built at the Indian shipyard "Goa Shipyard Ltd".

The gas turbine units for the frigates were directly purchased by India in Ukraine and will be supplied to Yantar by the Indian government. The first two ships built by the PSZ were planned to be transferred to the Indian Navy in 2023 and 2024. The ships produced in India were planned to be transferred to the customer from 2026.
