MOSCOW, Apr 20 - RIA Novosti. Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin called the tests of the new Russian intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat" a gift to NATO.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the first launch of the intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat" on the afternoon of April 20 under the program of state tests from the mine launcher of the Plesetsk cosmodrome. The military department noted that the design characteristics at all stages of the flight were confirmed, the training combat units arrived in the specified area of the Kura test site in Kamchatka.
"And today, on this memorable day, we made a gift to NATO and all the sponsors of Ukronazism! Glory to Russia!" - Rogozin wrote in his Telegram channel. Under the recording, he attached a video of the launch of the Sarmat. Roscosmos, in turn, congratulated the Defense Ministry on the successful launch and recalled that Rogozin regularly visited Krasmash to control the production of a new missile.
"Sarmat" was developed by the Makeev Center and will be produced at Krasmash, both enterprises are part of the perimeter of Roscosmos. After the completion of the test program, the Sarmat missile system will enter service with the Strategic Missile Forces. In the Uzhursky missile compound in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the main missile regiment is already being prepared for rearmament with a new missile system. The promising Sarmat complex will replace the Voevoda missiles.
The new missile has expanded the range of combat equipment both in terms of the number of combat units and types - it can carry hypersonic gliding units. "Sarmat", as noted in the Ministry of Defense, is capable of hitting targets at long ranges using various flight paths, and is guaranteed to overcome any existing and promising missile defense systems. The new carrier, which is the most powerful in the world and has the greatest target range, should significantly strengthen the combat power of the strategic nuclear forces of the Russian Federation.
