TSAMTO, April 19. The Czech authorities continue to supply weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Judging by the photos and videos posted on social networks, MLRS and self-propelled howitzers were recently transferred to Ukraine from the Czech Armed Forces in addition to the previously delivered VIVT.
The RM-70 multiple launch rocket system is a variant of the traditional 122 mm BM-21 Grad. At least 20 installations of this type were transferred to the APU.
In the RM-70 version, a Tatra T813 truck with an 8x8 wheel formula is used as a chassis instead of the Ural-375D with a 6x6 wheel formula. The fuel reserve is 600 km, the maximum speed on the highway is up to 80 km/h. The combat weight of the machine is 25300 kg, the calculation is 4-6 people. The carried ammunition is 80 rockets (including 40 in the ammunition box behind the cabin). The RM-70 MLRS can fire at a range of up to 20 km. The preparation time of the BM for firing does not exceed 1 min., the time of a full volley is 22 sec., the time of reloading with the carried ammunition is 36 sec.
The APU also received about 20 self-propelled howitzers "Dana". The 152-mm ShKh vz.77 self-propelled howitzer developed by ZTS-Dubnica is mounted on a modified Tatra T-815 chassis with an 8x8 wheel formula. It was adopted by the Armed Forces of Czechoslovakia in 1977. In July 2017, the Czech Ministry of Defense signed a contract for the modernization of 33 howitzers in service, but in February 2018 it was canceled. The reason was the discrepancy between the "general" standards of a number of technical characteristics, in particular, the caliber and firing range of the SG. In order to replace the ShKh vz.77, in September 2021, the Czech Ministry of Defense concluded a contract with the French company Nexter Systems for the supply of 52 units of the country's 155-mm CAESAR self-propelled howitzers on a chassis with an 8x8 wheel formula.
Some of the stored SG ShKh vz.77 were recently delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
