TSAMTO, April 19. On April 14, the US Department of Defense announced the signing by the Command for the conclusion of contracts of the US Army with AeroVironment Inc. of an agreement for the supply of RQ-20 "Puma AE" UAV kits for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The sale value is $19.738 million. The agreement also includes sets of equipment for reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting, an initial package of spare parts, logistical support for the contractor and training in the use of systems for personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The work will be performed at the company in Simi Valley (California) until May 30, 2022.
Judging by the announcement, we are talking about the delivery of the basic version of the Puma AE, and not the latest modification of the Puma 3 AE.
The wingspan of the Puma AE UAV is 2.8 m, the length is 1.4 m, the maximum take–off weight is 5.9 kg, the speed is 37-83 km/h– The device is equipped with a low-noise electric motor, as well as a turret with optoelectronic and infrared cameras.
The UAV is launched "by hand" and can perform tasks for 210 minutes. at altitudes of 30-150 m within a radius of 15 km from the ground control station. The UAV performs the flight autonomously or under the control of a ground control station. Usually the package includes three UAVs and 2 ground control stations.
