The Ukrainian army will soon begin to receive Western-style weapons, the supply of which was taken care of by the Americans. In addition, the Pentagon assumes the responsibility to train the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces in the use of NATO systems.
The US Department of Defense confirmed the delivery of artillery to Ukraine, in particular, 155-mm howitzers removed from storage by the US Army. Together with the guns, the Americans are transferring 40 thousand shells. Naturally, the Ukrainian army does not have the skills to use these howitzers, so the Pentagon has developed a training program for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the official representative of the US Defense Department John Kirby, the Pentagon will soon begin training the first batch of Ukrainian military. The short-term courses will not be held on the territory of Ukraine, the press secretary emphasized this, a country located nearby will be chosen for them, but Kirby refused to name it. The training will be conducted by American instructors.
The training scheme for the use of howitzers is simple and is called "teach the trainers". First, the Americans train a small group of AFU servicemen, who then independently train other Ukrainian gunners.
Meanwhile, the United States reacted to a note from the Russian Foreign Ministry sent to Washington, in which Russia warned the United States against arms supplies to Ukraine, stating the "unpredictable consequences" of this. According to White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki, these are "empty threats" that the US will not respond to.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced the delivery to Ukraine of a large batch of weapons, which will include, among other things, 11 Mi-17 helicopters, 200 M113 armored personnel carriers, 18 155-mm howitzers and 40,000 artillery shells, as well as 300 Switchblade kamikaze drones.
