VLADIVOSTOK, Apr 19 — RIA Novosti. The crews of four Il-38 and Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft from the mixed aviation regiment of troops and forces in the northeast of Russia conducted an eight-hour flight over the Pacific Ocean along the eastern coast of Kamchatka during which they searched for ships and submarines of the "enemy", the Pacific Fleet said.
During the exercises, IL-38 and Il-38N aircraft deployed more than 200 sonar buoys on the most likely routes of movement of submarines of a conditional enemy in neutral waters.
In addition, the pilots practiced piloting as part of pairs of aircraft at low altitudes above the water surface of the Pacific Ocean.
To increase the efficiency of the tasks, the interaction of pilots with the ships of the trawling tactical group from the water area protection unit was organized.
