The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation: the Mi-8 helicopter that attacked the village of Klimovo in the Bryansk region was shot down
The Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile system shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter, which on April 14 participated in the shelling of the settlement of Klimovo in the Bryansk region. This was stated on Friday, April 15, by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Igor Konashenkov.
"Russian air defense systems in the area of the settlement of Gorodnya, Chernihiv region, when returning to the airbase, a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile system S-400, which carried out an attack on residents of the peaceful settlement of Klimovo in the Bryansk region on April 14," TASS quoted Konashenkov as saying.
Data that the border checkpoint Novye Yurkovichi and the settlement of Klimovo were shelled from Ukraine in the Bryansk region appeared the day before. According to local authorities, eight residents of the village were injured, including a pregnant woman and a child. A fire broke out in two private houses. In addition, two refugee cars were damaged.
The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, who visited the scene of the events, said that the pilots knew and saw that they were attacking the homes of civilians," Bryansktoday writes.
Criminal case and damages
The UK has opened a criminal case on this fact. "With the use of two combat helicopters equipped with heavy offensive weapons, the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine illegally invaded the airspace of the Russian Federation. Moving at low altitude, acting intentionally, they carried out at least six airstrikes on residential buildings in the village of Klimovo," the press service of the ministry said.
As Alexander Isaev, the head of the Klimovsky district administration, told RIA Novosti, about a hundred houses were damaged to one degree or another.
"Our Klimovsky bus was damaged, it was on the flight, the glass was broken... Someone's roof was cut. Now we will review, we will work," Isaev added. According to him, a group of experts was sent to the village to calculate and study the damage. "The damage and the need for restoration will be determined, and after that work will begin to eliminate the consequences of the shelling. Operational investigation teams are gradually removing the cordon from the territories in Klimovo, where an inspection has already been carried out," Isayev said.
Increased level of terrorist threat
Incidents in the border areas of the Russian Federation have recently become more frequent. So, on April 13, a border patrol was fired at from small arms in the Kursk region. On April 12, a railway track was destroyed in the Belgorod region, 7 km from the border with Ukraine. On April 9, a border post was shelled near the village of Elizavetovka in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region. On April 1, a fire occurred at an oil depot in Belgorod.
Against this background, the authorities of the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk and Voronezh regions, as well as the Republic of Crimea, have introduced an increased, "yellow" level of terrorist danger.
The day before, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that the department "sees attempts of sabotage and strikes by Ukrainian troops on objects on the territory of the Russian Federation." "If such cases continue, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will strike at decision-making centers, including in Kiev, from which the Russian army has so far refrained," Konashenkov said.
On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense, during its conduct, Russian troops destroyed 132 aircraft, 105 helicopters, 245 anti-aircraft missile systems, 456 unmanned aerial vehicles, 2,213 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 249 multiple rocket launchers, 966 field artillery and mortars, as well as 2,110 units of special military vehicles.
