TSAMTO, April 14. The United Shipbuilding Corporation has created almost two dozen icebreakers and ice-class vessels during its time under sanctions, most of which have no world analogues.
At the moment, mooring tests of the unique ice-resistant self-propelled platform "North Pole" are continuing, which will go on the first expedition in the second half of this year.
Since 2014, when the first sanctions were imposed on the corporation, USC enterprises have created and handed over to customers 18 icebreakers and ice-class vessels, including two of the world's most powerful nuclear-powered ships LK-60 "Arctic" and "Siberia", the most powerful diesel-electric icebreaker "Viktor Chernomyrdin", the world's first dual-fuel icebreaker "Polaris", linear icebreakers, rescue vessels, tankers and supply vessels of ice classes.
The construction of ice-resistant platforms, nuclear-powered ships and special equipment in the interests of the development of the Arctic region continues at the USC shipyards. Their construction is a priority task, the task of ensuring the well–being and security not only of the North, but also of Russia as a whole. It will be carried out, despite any sanctions pressure.
In particular, the creation of the floating observatory "North Pole" is at the final stage, which is designed to continue and develop comprehensive scientific research in the high latitudes of the Arctic Ocean. Her first expedition marks the beginning of a fundamentally new stage of the struggle for scientific knowledge in the Arctic under conditions of melting ice.
