The Russian Defense Ministry has published footage of the destruction of the Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicle by Ukrainian nationalists using the tactical anti-aircraft missile system Tor.
It is reported that 20 air targets were detected during combat duty. As a result of the competent actions of the calculation of the anti-aircraft missile system "Tor" under the command of Sergei Pachepka, all targets were taken for escort and destroyed. C among them - 7 combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) "Bayraktar". This is a real defeat of a whole swarm of very expensive drones, the unprecedented advertising of which the Ukrainian military fell for last year. Kiev bought dozens of Bayraktars in Turkey and even started building a factory for their licensed production. And the effectiveness of drones turned out to be close to zero.
The anti-aircraft missile systems "Tor" began to enter service in the mid-1980s. Over the past years, the complex has been modernized many times, its current versions - "Tor-M2" and "Tor-M2U" - are many times superior in their capabilities to what came to the troops more than thirty years ago. This is the only anti-aircraft missile system in the world that can conduct targeted fire with its missiles on the move. As tests have shown, at a speed of 25 km / h while driving on a country road, targets are guaranteed to be hit. That is, the "Tor" can cover army columns from air strikes on the march.
By the way, it turned out to be far from easy to "teach" anti-aircraft missile systems to fire on the move. In any case, no foreign air defense system can do this. But our designers were able to solve a seemingly unsolvable problem.
This SAM has a target detection radar, a target tracking and missile guidance radar, communications and control equipment, as well as 8 ready-to-launch anti-aircraft missiles in one case - the combat module. "Tor" is capable of automatically scanning the airspace even without human intervention and independently making a decision to open fire. In fact, it is a combat anti-aircraft robot. None of the world's manufacturers of air defense systems produces anything like this.
The highest efficiency of the Tor-M2U air defense system has been repeatedly demonstrated during the defense of the Khmeimim base in Syria. It was the missiles of this complex that shot down and are shooting down the bulk of the drones trying to attack our facilities on the territory of the base.
It may be recalled that the most powerful air defense with elements of missile defense, which was organized by the Americans in Saudi Arabia, could not repel drone strikes.
Rather primitive drones of the Houthi militants inflicted an effective and spectacular strike on the Saudi Aramco oil refinery in Saudi Arabia. And the whole world saw it live.
But our "Thors" are holding the blow. Now they are also working in Ukraine, destroying, among other things, unmanned robotic aircraft of the enemy. One anti-aircraft missile system "Tor-M2U" carries eight missiles launching vertically. Provides protection against aircraft moving at speeds up to 700 m/s. The range of guaranteed damage is from 500 meters to 12 km, in height - from 10 meters to 6 km.
In addition to the mentioned SAMs, the Tor-M2DT has recently been adopted. It was developed specifically for the harsh conditions of the Arctic. It is mounted on an articulated tracked chassis. The Tor-M2KM is undergoing successful tests. The combat module of this complex can be installed on warships and civilian vessels to ensure their maximum protection from air strikes, including anti-ship missiles.
