Moscow. March 28. INTERFAX-AVN - The Russian military said they shot down five Ukrainian planes over the Chernihiv and Donetsk regions during the day.

"Aviation and air defense means of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down four Su-24 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the air over the Chernihiv region during the day, two of them in the Turnip area, two more in the Gorodnya area," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Monday.

"One Ukrainian Su-27 fighter was shot down near Kramatorsk, Donetsk region," he said.

Konashenkov said that 19 Ukrainian drones were destroyed during the day, including one in the region of Mariupol.

"In addition, five missiles of the Ukrainian multiple launch rocket system Smerch were shot down in the air near the Chernobayevka airfield in the Kherson region," he said.

Konashenkov said that on March 27, 36 military facilities of Ukraine were hit by tactical aviation and missile forces.

"Among them are two control points, two anti-aircraft missile systems, one installation of a multiple launch rocket system, three ammunition depots and two fuel and lubricants depots, 23 areas of concentration of Ukrainian military equipment," Konashenkov said.

According to him, since the beginning of the special military operation, 308 Ukrainian drones, 1713 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 170 multiple rocket launchers, 715 field artillery and mortars, 1557 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed.

"The grouping of troops of the Russian Armed Forces, continuing successful offensive actions, wedged 2 kilometers deep into the defense of the 95th airborne assault brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces and reached the southern outskirts of Novoselovka," Konashenkov said.

"The units of the Luhansk People's Republic advanced 5 kilometers during the offensive, captured the settlements of Ivanovka, Novosadove and reached the line of Novolyublino, Terny," Konashenkov said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine.

In response, many countries have imposed sanctions against Russia.

The Russian army will continue a special military operation in Ukraine until the tasks set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief are fully completed, Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Sergey Rudskoy said on March 25.

"In general, the main tasks of the first stage of the operation have been completed. The combat potential of the armed forces of Ukraine has been significantly reduced, which allows, I emphasize once again, to focus the main efforts on achieving the main goal - the liberation of Donbass," Rudskoy said at a briefing on March 25.

At that briefing, Rudskoy said that 93% of the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic and more than half of the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic had been taken under control.
