TSAMTO, March 16. March 15 marked the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Voronezh Aviation Plant. Today the plant is a branch of PJSC Il - VASO and is part of the transport aviation division of the United Aircraft Corporation (part of Rostec Group).
The history of the company began on March 15, 1932. By order of the People's Commissariat of Heavy Industry of the USSR, among other first-born of the domestic aviation industry, plant No. 18 under construction in Voronezh was transferred to the aircraft building trust. During its existence, the company has produced dozens of types of aircraft designed by A.N.Tupolev, S.V.Ilyushin, O.K.Antonov, G.V.Novozhilov.
The branch of PJSC "Il" - VASO specializes in the production and maintenance of wide-body long-haul airliners IL-96. Reliable Voronezh-made aircraft are used by a special flight detachment "Russia", which provides flights within Russia and abroad for the leadership of our country. In cooperation with other UAC enterprises, the plant participates in the production of aggregates for various aviation equipment. Work is underway here on the creation of a light military transport IL-112B and the development of a family of passenger Il-96. On the production site of the aircraft factory, the center of specialization of the UAC "Engine Nacelles and pylons" has been created, which produces the appropriate units for modern aircraft engines.
"The Voronezh Plant has built a full technological cycle of serial production and maintenance of IL-96 passenger aircraft. VASO is loaded with orders for the main programs and for cooperation with other UAC enterprises," said Sergey Yarkov, First Deputy General Director of PJSC UAC, Managing Director of PJSC Il. – Taking into account the growing demand for Russian aircraft products, it will be necessary to attract new specialists and workers in the coming year. In order to increase the attractiveness of the enterprise as a responsible employer, a decision was made at the level of the UAC to provide a salary increase."
VASO is a large industrial enterprise of the Voronezh region, significant for the economy of the region. In 2021, the average salary of the plant's employees was 41855 rubles, which is higher than the average for the region. The number of employees of the company today is over 5,300 people, 24% of whom are under the age of 35. 58% of employees have been working at the enterprise for 10 to 20 years or more, almost 40% of aircraft builders have higher education.
"Within the framework of federal and sectoral programs for the reconstruction and modernization of production at our plant, significant amounts of work have been carried out in recent years, modern high–performance equipment has been put into operation," said Farit Sharafeev, director of the branch of PJSC Il – VASO. - Measures are continuing to improve the production system, build production lines, which will reduce costs and expenses due to the optimal organization of the aircraft production process. As a result, all this will contribute to the effective fulfillment of the tasks set for us by the state, the growth of production and quality of aircraft and, on this basis, the growth of the welfare of Voronezh aircraft manufacturers, who are rightfully proud of the history of their plant and are aimed at writing new pages in it."
Throughout its history, VASO has produced a variety of aircraft that were included in the history of the development of domestic aviation. The most important milestone was the production of the Victory – Il-2 aircraft. Over the years of the war, more than half of the more than 36 thousand Il-branded aircraft were assembled by Voronezh aircraft manufacturers. Many aircraft produced here have become the most important achievements of technological development. These are the first domestic passenger aircraft with An-10 turboprop engines, and combat Il-10, Il-28, Tu-16, Tu-128, the first unmanned reconnaissance Tu-123, cargo An-12 and the world's first supersonic Tu-144, the first domestic wide-body Il-86, passenger An-148 and the long-haul liner IL-96.
