Moscow. March 8th. INTERFAX - The Russian Defense Ministry announced the decommissioning of the Ukrainian Air Force airfield near Zhytomyr and taking control of one of the quarters of the port city of Mariupol.
"On March 7, high-precision long-range weapons disabled the airfield of the Ukrainian Air Force Ozernoye near Zhytomyr," Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, said at a briefing on Tuesday.
On March 6, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported the destruction of the Ukrainian Air Force base in Vinnytsia with high-precision weapons.
Konashenkov said on Tuesday that during the day Russian planes destroyed 158 military facilities on the territory of Ukraine.
"Fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down two MiG-29s and one Su-27 of the Ukrainian Air Force in the air," he said.
"Also put out of action: 2 Ukrainian divisions of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, 3 Buk M-1 self-propelled firing units, 4 control points, 2 radar stations, 9 ammunition depots and 11 areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment," Konashenkov said.
According to him, 2482 objects of the military infrastructure of Ukraine were destroyed during the Russian operation.
"Among them are 87 control points and communication centers of the Ukrainian armed forces, 124 S-300, Buk M-1 and Osa anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as 79 radar stations. 866 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 91 multiple rocket launchers, 317 field artillery and mortars, 634 units of special military vehicles, as well as 81 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed," Konashenkov said.
"Units of the People's Militia of the Donetsk People's Republic have established control over the Osaviakhim quarter in Mariupol," he said.
On March 6, Konashenkov said that the DPR forces in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol had taken control of the residential quarter of Old Crimea.
