Orlan-10 UAVs of the Central Military District have started monitoring flood-prone areas on rivers in Siberia
In Russia, Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have started monitoring Siberian rivers. Drones of the Central Military District (CVO) are used to detect ice jams in flood-prone areas in a timely manner. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the district.
"The calculations of the Orlan-10 UAV conducted reconnaissance flights in the upper reaches of the Yenisei and Biya rivers for the timely detection of ice jams on dangerous river sections. The information received will allow us to make decisions quickly on carrying out demolition work in places of ice accumulation," the press service said.
Unmanned vehicles operate at an altitude of 50 to 300 meters. The publication notes that demolition and evacuation and rescue groups with specialists from engineering departments have been prepared in the Central Military District to combat flooding.
The Orlan-10 complex includes a control center, launch equipment and drones. The aircraft weighing 14 kilograms received an internal combustion engine. The maximum speed of the UAV is 150 kilometers per hour. "Orlan-10" can carry up to five kilograms of payload.
In February, the Central Military District gunners destroyed the targets of a conditional enemy during exercises in the Chelyabinsk region. Reconnaissance of targets was provided by Orlan-10 drones.
