TSAMTO, February 28. Russian servicemen in Tajikistan have applied camouflage paint to upgraded T-72B3M tanks with improved combat characteristics, which recently entered service at the 201st military base.
The tankers applied protective shades of the mountainous desert terrain in the form of rectangular broken spots with sharp transitions from light to shadow. For this purpose, specially selected beige-gray, cream and brown colors of paints were used.
The special color is universal, it is suitable for any terrain weather, time of day and natural formations available on the way of advancing military equipment (quarries, gorges, mountain riverbeds). A special color made it possible to ensure the masking of equipment in the physical and geographical conditions of the Republic of Tajikistan.
As previously reported, a batch of 30 T-72B3M tanks entered service at the 201st Russian military base in December 2021. The battalion of modern tanks has significantly increased the combat capabilities of the motorized rifle unit due to improved maneuverability and armor protection of the crew.
Earlier, the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, said that a set of measures is being carried out to strengthen the combat power of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan, including rearmament with modern weapons and military equipment.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside of its borders. It is located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications, the press service of the Central Military District reports.
