Specialists of the ship repair plant of the Black Sea Fleet have put the locks of the North Crimean Canal in working condition on the territory of the Kherson region. This was reported today in the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet.
Military ship repairers have restored the sluice gates disabled by Ukrainian radicals in 2014.
The military also started cleaning the canal bed from trees and shrubs that have grown over 8 years. These works are carried out by units of the railway troops of the Southern Military District.
- Upon completion of the work, the water supply through the North Crimean Canal to the territory of the Republic of Crimea, as well as for residents of the settlements of the Kherson region of Ukraine, will be restored, - the Black Sea Fleet noted.
It is reported that the Russian military, having freed the hydrotechnical node of the North Crimean Canal in the Kherson region from the nationalist armed formations of Ukraine, took it under protection. And the specialists of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation have begun to restore the destroyed infrastructure. Servicemen of a separate marine engineering regiment of the Black Sea Fleet are also involved in the work.
