Moscow. February 26. INTERFAX - The Russian Defense Ministry believes that US strike and reconnaissance drones helped the Ukrainian military attack the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
"I want to pay special attention. During the attack of Ukrainian boats, strategic unmanned aerial vehicles of the United States RQ-4 Global Hawk and MQ-9A Reaper were barraging over the area of provocation," said Igor Konashenkov, an official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry.
"There is a high probability that it was American UAVs that guided Ukrainian boats to the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet," he said.
The RQ-4 Global Hawk is an American strategic reconnaissance drone.
The MQ-9 Reaper ("Reaper") is currently the main strike drone in service with the United States.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, on the eve of 16 boats of the Ukrainian Navy, using "swarm tactics", tried to attack ships of the Black Sea Fleet near the island of Snake.
"On the evening of February 25, during the evacuation of 82 Ukrainian servicemen who voluntarily laid down their arms from the island of Zmeiny, 16 boats of the Ukrainian Navy, using the "swarm tactics", tried to attack the ships of the Black Sea Fleet," Konashenkov said.
