Roscosmos called it impossible to implement the Venus-D project together with the United States
Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin called it impossible for the United States to participate in the Russian Venus-D project. The head of the state corporation told TASS about this.
"Under the conditions of sanctions, US participation in the project is impossible," the manager said.
According to him, the mission will be implemented by Russia independently or together with China. Rogozin clarified that he had instructed to start negotiations with the Chinese side on the coordination and mutual technical support of deep space missions.
In a statement to RIA Novosti, the head of the state corporation confirmed that after the sanctions were imposed, he considers it inappropriate "to continue US participation in the Russian project of developing and creating an interplanetary station."
Earlier, Rogozin said that Roscosmos was suspending cooperation with the European Union on the launch of Soyuz-2 rockets from the Kourou cosmodrome.
In February, the United States and the European Union imposed sanctions against Russia because of a special operation in the Donbass.
In November 2021, Rogozin said that if Russia does not launch a mission to Venus by 2030, it will "fall out" of the three space powers.
In September 2020, the head of Roscosmos called Venus is a Russian planet, for which Russia has certain plans.
As part of the Venus-D mission, it is planned to study, in particular, the surface, atmosphere and internal structure of the planet.
