Due to Russia's special operation to protect the DPR and the LPR, the European Union has imposed new sanctions against the military-industrial, energy, and aircraft sectors of the Russian Federation. The document notes that the list includes Sukhoi, Tupolev, Progress Rocket and Space Center, Kalashnikov, Almaz-Antey, Russian Railways, Kamaz, Sevmash, etc. In total - more than 60 leading companies and military-industrial enterprises of the Russian Federation.
These companies will not be able to access the capital market and any financial services. Enterprises of the military-industrial and energy complexes of the Russian Federation will not be provided with technical or other assistance.
The document also says that the sanctions also affected the financial sector of the Russian Federation. Thus, Alfa-Bank, Otkritie, Bank Rossiya and Promsvyazbank were subject to restrictions.
Yakov Mirkin, Head of the Department of International Capital Markets at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explained in his article in "RG" what is the economic meaning of sanctions.
Earlier, RG reported that in case of increased problems, the Bank of Russia will definitely be able to support sanctioned banks with funding if they need additional liquidity.
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said that the Russian government has prepared a package of retaliatory sanctions against Western countries. They will hit the "weak points".
