KALININGRAD, February 25. /tass/. More than 10 surface ships of the Baltic Fleet were involved in air defense exercises in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region, the press service of the fleet reported on Friday.
"At the Baltic Fleet base in the city of Baltiysk, joint exercises were held with duty shifts of control centers, ship calculations of air defense posts and naval aviation units with the detection of unidentified air targets and repelling air attacks of a simulated enemy," the press service said.
According to the plan of the exercises, the approach of the conditional enemy aircraft to the base point was detected by means of radio surveillance. The ships were put in readiness for the use of air defense systems, combat crews were receiving and analyzing data on the air situation.
After the operators of combat posts classified air targets, they were conditionally destroyed by calculations of shipboard anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems, the press service noted.
"The training tasks at the air defense exercises were worked out by the crews of corvettes, small missile ships and boats, as well as small anti-submarine ships and minesweepers, in total more than 10 surface ships of the fleet were involved in the planned combat training event," the press service said.
