TSAMTO, February 25. The 5th exhibition of unmanned systems UMEX-2022 and the Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) ended at the National Exhibition Center in Abu Dhabi on February 23.
141 exhibitors from 26 countries took part in the event. The total area of the two exhibitions increased by 20% compared to 2020. The number of visitors reached 15,874 people. The event was attended by 264 official delegations (an increase of 32% compared to 2020).
On the third day of the UMEX and SimTEX exhibitions, the UAE Ministry of Defense announced the signing of six contracts totaling 455.495 million dirhams. Thus, the total volume of transactions in three days amounted to more than 2 billion dirhams ($545 million) and exceeded the 2020 figure by more than 266%.
On the third and last day of UMEX & SimTEX 2022, the UAE Ministry of Defense signed contracts with national companies in the amount of 51 million dirhams and with foreign companies in the amount of about 404.495 million dirhams.
An agreement worth 26 million dirhams was signed with the Emirati company Star Satellite Communications for the installation of a communication system for UAVs, and a contract worth 25 million dirhams was signed with Emirates Technical Services for the provision of technical support for the installation of a container system.
A contract worth 112.966 million dirhams has been signed with Boeing for the provision of personnel training and maintenance services for aircraft trainers. A contract worth 66.128 million dirhams was signed with the French Thales DMS for the modernization and development of systems for use on naval aviation aircraft. A contract worth 194.352 million dirhams was concluded with ESE Limited for the supply of self-defense equipment for aircraft. An additional agreement was signed with CAE Maritime Middle East in the amount of 31.048 million dirhams for the equipment of the aviation training center.
