Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu issued an order on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day. In it, the head of the military department congratulated servicemen, veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, combat operations and military service on the holiday.
"On this day we remember the heroic pages of the history of our country, we honor those who at different times fought for the freedom and independence of the Motherland," the order says. It is noted there that at all times our army and navy reliably stood guard over their native land, bravely repelled the blows of the enemy. "We are proud of the valor and heroism of veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, internationalist soldiers, participants in counter-terrorism and peacekeeping operations - all those who performed their military duty with honor, showing courage, unbending will and devotion to the Motherland," the Russian Defense Minister stressed.
According to him, today the personnel of the Armed Forces, continuing the glorious military traditions of their predecessors, effectively solves the responsible tasks of ensuring the security of our state, protecting its national interests, demonstrates exemplary combat training and high professionalism.
Sergei Shoigu wished the servicemen, veterans of war, combat operations and military service good health, happiness, well-being, further success in service and work for the benefit of Russia.
The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation ordered on February 23 at 21.00 local time to make artillery salutes in the capital of our Motherland, the hero city of Moscow, in the hero cities of Volgograd, Kerch, Murmansk, Novorossiysk, St. Petersburg (the hero city of Leningrad), Sevastopol, Smolensk, Tula, as well as in cities where the headquarters of military districts, fleets, combined arms armies and the Caspian Flotilla are stationed, with thirty blank volleys of artillery guns and launches fireworks products of fireworks installations.
