TASS, February 22. /tass/. Motorized infantry of the Central Military District (CVO), with the support of artillery units, destroyed the so-called nomadic mortars of a conditional enemy during exercises in the Samara region, the press service of the CVO reported on Tuesday.
"According to the plan, the scouts conducted aerial reconnaissance of the area with the help of Orlan drones and found several dozen mobile groups of a conditional enemy equipped with mortars. The enemy planned to shell the settlement with frequent change of firing positions," the message says.
Motorized skirmishers organized fire ambushes on the advance routes and transmitted coordinates to artillery batteries. Servicemen fired from towed D-30 howitzers at so-called nomadic mortars, and motorized rifle units destroyed scattered enemy forces, including from Pecheneg machine guns and RPG-7B grenade launchers.
About 1 thousand servicemen and over 120 units of special equipment took part in the exercises.
