A deeply modernized barrage munition, or, as it is also called, a kamikaze drone, "Lancet" was used in Syria against terrorists.
The use of barrage ammunition is still a new phenomenon for our army. The Lancet strike drone was first shown in 2019 at the Army forum and was almost immediately taken for a "run-in" by our special forces in Syria. Already in April 2020, official information appeared that the Lancets were successfully used to destroy the calculations of anti-tank complexes of militants and field commanders. Moreover, the blows were inflicted with almost surgical precision.
Of course, the first tests also showed some shortcomings of this, without a doubt, promising and effective type of ammunition.
According to RIA Novosti, an updated Lancet was recently used against terrorists in Syria, which is able to hang in the air longer and carry a larger explosive charge.
"As part of the tests, a new version of the Lancet-3 barrage munition was used several times by units of the Russian military against terrorist positions in Syria. The new device has received an increased duration and range of flight and is capable of carrying a warhead of increased power," the agency's source said.
"Lancet-3" carries a charge of 3 kilograms. It is able to hover in the air for 40 minutes and reach a speed of 110 km/h. When a target is detected, such a drone strikes it like a guided missile, completely destroying itself.
