Sappers of the Western Military District received a batch of sets of the latest protective suits OVR-2-02.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the equipment protects the serviceman from being hit by shrapnel, bullets and from strong sound effects. Fabric armor elements and panels made of pressed polyethylene are used in the design of the suit.
OVR-2-02 has been successfully used in Syria, Laos and Karabakh. Along with this ammunition, the Russian engineering troops receive an OVR-ZSH suit, which allows them to conduct assault operations. According to experts, the modern equipment of Russian sappers not only provides a high level of security, but also allows them to work comfortably, especially in hot climates.
The military personnel of the engineering and sapper unit stationed in the Leningrad region received a batch of sets of the latest combined-arms protective suits OVR-2-02. "The suit is designed for mine clearance groups of engineering units performing the tasks of making passages in minefields and clearing the terrain," the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation says.
In addition to the suit itself, each set includes audio and video communication systems, cooling and hearing protection equipment, six units of combat protective equipment "Raid-L-Tactical", a multifunctional knife, a sapper blade, a non-magnetic probe, lanterns and pass signs.
RT notes that the design of the OVR-2-02 covers vital organs, collar and groin areas. The head of the sapper is protected by a helmet LSHZ-2DTM. It can be used at temperatures from -40 to +40 °C. The helmet is worn together with a barmice (shoulder strap) and a transparent visor, which protects the eyes and at the same time does not interfere with orientation in space.
