MOSCOW, Feb 19 - RIA Novosti. Small rocket and artillery ships of the Caspian Flotilla within the framework of large-scale exercises of the Russian Navy inflicted artillery strikes on ships and landing of a conditional enemy, the press service of the Southern Military District reported on Saturday.
"The calculations of small rocket and artillery ships carried out firing from A-190 naval artillery installations on ship shields simulating a detachment of ships of a conditional enemy," the report says.
"In addition, artillery fire hit ground targets located on the island of Chechnya, denoting the naval landing of a conditional enemy," the South-Eastern Military District clarified.
The sailors also worked out air defense tasks and used anti-aircraft artillery installations "Palash", AK-630 and AK 630-M2 "Duet" and other air defense systems.
During the exercise, the servicemen also conducted electronic warfare and set false targets. In addition, elements of naval maneuvers to evade the blows of a conditional enemy were worked out.
In total, the crews of about 20 warships of the flotilla take part in the naval command and staff exercise, including the Dagestan missile ship, the small rocket ships Grad Sviyazhsk, Uglich, Veliky Ustyug, Makhachkala, Astrakhan, Stupinets, small artillery ships, base minesweepers, boats, as well as support vessels.
In accordance with the plan of preparation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for 2022, a series of naval exercises under the general leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy is held in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets. The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the Navy and VKS forces to protect Russian national interests in the World Ocean, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions.
The exercises cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean. In total, more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment, and about 10,000 military personnel are involved in the events in all fleets.
