The center will employ about 100 designers and production workers

MOSCOW, February 18. /tass/. The Center for Marine Robotics, created by the Central Design Bureau "Rubin", began work in Kronstadt. This was reported to journalists on Friday in the press service of the Central Bank.

"Autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles are being designed, assembled and tested at the enterprise. The production site is designed for simultaneous assembly of several super-heavy, heavy, medium and small underwater vehicles," the press service said.

It is noted that the placement of production and test stands on the same territory will significantly reduce time and resource costs. The project is being implemented at the expense of own funds of the Central Design Bureau "Rubin".

The press service clarified that Rubin bought the complex of buildings from the Kronstadt Marine Plant. The plan to create a marine robotics center was agreed with the United Shipbuilding Corporation and the administration of St. Petersburg. In 2017-2021, a new production facility was organized on 6 thousand square meters of space.

According to Rubin, the Marine robotics center includes three production facilities, including two slipways, as well as test benches and technical control facilities. The center will employ about 100 designers and production workers. The new site will also act in the interests of other USC enterprises: prototypes of robotics can be made according to their drawings.

The press service recalled that Rubin creates underwater robotic complexes in a fully digital environment, which speeds up calculations, reduces development time, and allows to reduce defects in the manufacture and assembly of components of the device to almost zero.

For 10 years of work in the field of underwater robotics, Rubin, among others, created, by order of the Foundation for Advanced Research, the Vityaz-D deep-sea vehicle - the first autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicle in the world, which worked in the Mariana Trench.

Also, a small-class device "Juno" and a family of small robots "Amulet" and "Talisman" were created. Projects of autonomous underwater gliders have been developed, as well as a complex of underwater technical means for seismic exploration in subglacial conditions.
