Anti-aircraft gunners of the Southern Military District destroyed targets during the exercises with the weapons of the Tor-M2U complex
Anti-aircraft units of the Southern Military District (SE) conducted training in the Kuban. During the exercises, the Russian military discovered and hit small-sized maneuvering targets of a conditional enemy. The anti-aircraft gunners used the armament of the Tor-M2U anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), the press service of the Southern Military District reported .
The calculations of the complexes performed the tasks of detecting and tracking targets. The military also practiced fire control and hitting targets with electronic launches of guided munitions. The missiles hit targets at a range of up to ten kilometers.
The press service noted that more than 1,200 military personnel and about 200 pieces of equipment were involved in the field exit of the 49th combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District. The military used ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft installations, Tunguska anti-aircraft missile and cannon complexes and Buk-M2, Tor-M2U, Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile systems.
Earlier it became known that Russian paratroopers will receive a new air defense system. The "Birdman" machines will begin to enter the units in 2023.
In January, Izvestia, citing sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that the new portable air defense missile system (MANPADS) "Willow" will be used for the first time at the exercises "Allied Determination-2022".
