The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has published a "White Paper— - a summary analysis of the results of the study of the development of high technologies in Russia and the rest of the world.
The study was prepared by the Ministry on behalf of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Belousov together with the Higher School of Economics, the centers of the National Technological Initiative, relevant departments and leading companies.
The White Paper discusses ten areas: artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, fifth-generation mobile communication networks (5G), quantum computing, quantum communications, distributed registry technologies, power transmission technologies and distributed intelligent power systems, technologies for creating electricity storage systems, including portable ones, technologies for new materials and substances, promising space systems.
The document is available on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development. In particular, it notes that "certainly the most advanced in most parameters" are the United States and China with "a large margin from other countries."
Russia was able to enter the top ten countries in such areas as advanced space systems, technologies of new materials and substances, as well as technologies for the transmission of electricity and distributed intelligent power systems.
In addition, the Ministry of Economic Development believes that Russia can be classified as a country with a fairly high potential in the field of 5G. However, it is confirmed that Russia lags behind the world leaders by 3-5 years in terms of the level of development of basic 5G technologies.
