London. February 17th. INTERFAX - The United Kingdom on Thursday begins to transfer military personnel to Estonia, as well as tanks and other armored vehicles, the British Ministry of Defense reports.
"The UK is doubling the number of personnel in Estonia and sending additional equipment there, including tanks and armored vehicles. The military and equipment will begin to be moved to Estonia today," reads a press release issued by the British Defense Ministry.
"Together with our NATO allies, we are deploying troops and facilities on land, at sea and in the airspace in order to strengthen European defense in response to the buildup of Russian military forces near the border with Ukraine," British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said in a statement.
"NATO and our allies have clearly demonstrated that an invasion of Ukraine will have serious consequences. De-escalation and diplomacy are still the only way to resolve the situation," Wallace stressed.
