The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia noted the superiority of a number of foreign missiles over Russian ones
The telecommunications and geoinformation space systems available in Russia do not fully meet the challenges facing the country's economy, according to the High-Tech White Paper posted by on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia (MAYOR).
The document recognizes that the relevant systems make it possible to implement services that are in demand in the economy. "However, the available domestic solutions do not fully meet the challenges of the digital transformation of the Russian economy and the growing needs for space infocommunication services," the White Paper notes.
In particular, it is reported that a number of modern foreign missiles surpass the new carriers that Roscosmos has, for example, in the use of reusable technologies that reduce the cost of services. The emerging backlog is proposed to be reduced through the development of promising space systems.
The document recalls that the federal project "Integrated Development of Space information Technologies for 2022-2030" (previously the "Sphere" subprogram) has been launched in Russia, for the implementation of which the state corporation is responsible. "The project provides for measures aimed at meeting the needs of government and commercial customers in modern products and services based on space technologies," the document says.
In February, Roscosmos announced that it was working to reduce the cost of RD-191 engines and their modifications for the Angara family of missiles.
In August 2021, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin announced that the state corporation would receive seven billion rubles to create a scientific and technical reserve under the Sphere program.
