In the Leningrad region, the crews of the ZVO worked out the interception of a conditional violator
The crews of the MiG–31 high-altitude interceptor fighters worked out the coercion to land a conditional intruder of airspace. Pilots of the fighter aviation regiment of the Western Military District (ZVO) conducted an exercise in the sky over the Leningrad region, the press service of the ZVO reported.
"The pilots of the Mig-31 high-altitude interceptor fighters performed takeoffs and maneuvering elements at an altitude of about 400 meters in conditions of limited visibility. After that, at altitudes of about 14,000 meters, the aircraft crews deployed a radar field to monitor the airspace using the Zaslon-M onboard radar," the press service reported.
The planes found the target, which was moving at a speed of about 2000 kilometers per hour. The plane of the conditional violator imitated another MiG-31. After the approach, the crews performed a set of actions to force the plane to land.
The flights took place at night. This increased the complexity of the tasks. The message noted that the landing of the MiG-31 was carried out by instruments.
Four MiG-31 crews and about 50 military personnel from the flight control group, engineering and flight personnel took part in the exercise.
In February, in the Kaliningrad region, eyewitnesses noticed a MiG-31K with a hypersonic Dagger missile.
Earlier in the same month, Poland evaluated the MiG-31 flight over the Baltic Sea. The publication Defence24 noted the armament and high speed of the aircraft.
