Moscow. February 16. INTERFAX - The Russian military has recorded tests by Israel and China of missiles as part of the improvement by these countries of missile defense systems (ABM).
"In January, two tests were opened at once as part of the improvement of missile defense systems by states such as Israel and the People's Republic of China," said Sergey Suchkov, head of the Main Center for Missile Attack Warning of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation.
"The equipment did not fail, the error-free functioning of the radar equipment and command posts made it possible to determine both the target missiles and the anti-missiles aimed at them on the flight paths," Suchkov said in an interview with the newspaper of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Krasnaya Zvezda.
Over the past few years, Russia has also been testing missile defense systems. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on successful tests of a new missile defense system at the Sary-Shagan test site (Kazakhstan).
In July 2020, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Sergei Surovikin, announced that Moscow's missile defense system would be strengthened with new anti-missiles.
The US Space Command stated that this new Russian anti-missile poses a challenge to US interests in near-Earth space. According to the US military, this Russian system is capable of destroying satellites in low orbit.
In November 2021, the Russian military reported that they had successfully tested a system that hit an old satellite. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Soviet satellite "Tselina-D" was hit in orbit. The Russian military said that its debris does not pose a danger to orbital stations and space activities.
